Job summary

Randstad CPE is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor for a critical contract role on a major infrastructure optimisation project in the UK. The position requires delivering value and managing costs on underground cable packages within a fast-paced civil engineering environment.

We expect 5+ years of construction experience, NEC contract knowledge, and preferably Chartered status or progress toward it. Hybrid work arrangement with on-site 3 days per week at Assington, Suffolk.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in construction with a strong civil engineering background.
• Bachelor or Master degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent.
• Strong NEC knowledge and NEC contract administration.
• Chartered member of RICS / ICES / CIOB (or working towards it) preferred.
• Experience with Fast Draft is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Manage project costs to minimise expenses while delivering value for money.
• Oversee underground cable packages including trenching, ducting, and HDD.
• Lead sub-contractor management and CVR processes.
• Prepare procurement programmes, activity and resource schedules.
• Analyse rates, variations and compensation events; prepare and negotiate claims.
• Review contract programmes and assist with delay/disruption plans.
• Mentor and develop a small team of junior commercial staff.
