Job summary

Kier Group plc. is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor for a major water infrastructure upgrade project in Maple Cross. You will support and deputize for the Commercial Manager, leading day-to-day commercial management, cost control, and reporting.

You will manage budgets, forecasts, variations and subcontract packages, mentor junior QSs, and ensure governance and contract compliance throughout the commercial lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as Senior Quantity Surveyor on civil engineering or water infra projects.
• Strong contract management and change control capabilities.
• Experience leading subcontract packages through full commercial lifecycle.
• Skilled in CVRs, cost forecasting and financial reporting.

Responsibilities

• Manage commercial and financial aspects of packages, ensuring contract compliance.
• Prepare detailed cost forecasts, cash flow projections and variance analyses.
• Lead change management, including valuation and variations approval.
• Oversee procurement and administration of subcontract packages from tender to final account.
• Provide guidance to Quantity Surveyors and junior staff and review outputs.

Your Role

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a major water infrastructure upgrade project! You'll support and deputize for the Commercial Manager, leading the day-to-day commercial management of key packages. Your expertise will ensure robust cost control, effective supply chain management, and accurate reporting.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the commercial and financial aspects of allocated works packages, ensuring compliance with contract terms and internal governance.
• Prepare and maintain detailed cost forecasts, cash flow projections, and variance analyses with timely reporting.
• Lead change management processes, including valuation, justification, and agreement of variations.
• Oversee procurement and administration of subcontract packages from tender enquiry to final account settlement.
• Provide guidance and technical support to Quantity Surveyors and Assistant QSs, reviewing their outputs and aiding their development.

Qualifications

• Have proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor or a strong Quantity Surveyor on major civil engineering, process, or water infrastructure projects.
• Possess a solid understanding of contract management and change control.
• Can demonstrate experience managing subcontract packages through the full commercial lifecycle.
• Are highly competent in CVRs, cost forecasting, financial reporting, and commercial governance.
• Have excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills, with the ability to mentor junior commercial staff.
