Job summary

Building Careers UK Ltd is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor for a Chartered QS Consultancy role based in Durham. You will deliver commercial and contractual expertise across major infrastructure and energy projects, with NEC4 at the core of contract administration and strong client-facing responsibilities.

The role emphasizes on-site collaboration, pragmatic commercial decision-making and ongoing relationship management with clients, project managers, engineers and subcontractors.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor or QS.
• Strong NEC4 contract administration and commercial management experience.
• Experience across infrastructure, energy, utilities or similar complex projects.
• Good understanding of NEC4 procedures and commercial mechanisms.
• Experience managing compensation events and change control.
• Degree or equivalent in Quantity Surveying or related field; MRICS preferred.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for site visits.

Responsibilities

• Provide commercial and contractual expertise across major projects.
• Advise on contractual matters and manage commercial processes.
• Support project teams through changes, risks and financial challenges.
• Conduct regular site visits and liaise with clients and teams.
• Maintain accurate commercial records and NEC4 administration.
