Walter Thompson (Contractors) Ltd in North Yorkshire is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our commercial team on a range of private sector projects across the UK. You will take full commercial responsibility from tender through final account, working closely with operations, clients and subcontractors to maximise profitability and deliver high-quality schemes.

Qualifications

• Experience as Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor in construction.
• Degree or HNC in Quantity Surveying or related construction discipline.

Responsibilities

• Manage commercial and contractual aspects of new build projects.
• Prepare budgets, cost plans and project estimates.
• Manage project costs, forecasts and cash flow.
• Prepare, submit and negotiate applications for payment, valuations, variations and final accounts.
• Cost analysis and value engineering to maximise profitability.
• Advise on procurement strategy and subcontractor selection.
• Review tender documentation, bills of quantities and contract conditions.
• Negotiate subcontract packages and ensure commercial compliance.
• Identify, analyse and manage commercial risks and opportunities.
• Provide advice on contractual matters and claims.
• Produce monthly cost reports and financial forecasts.
• Maintain effective cost and financial control systems.
• Liaise with clients, consultants and project teams.
• Represent the Walter Thompson brand with professionalism.
