Job summary

Esh Living, within its housing division, is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor in Leeds to deliver cost management across medium-to-large affordable housing projects. You will support project managers, manage subcontractors, and prepare valuations and final accounts, ensuring contractual compliance.

The role emphasises collaboration with the operational team, development of apprentices, and adherence to company processes while driving cost efficiency and value for money.

Qualifications

• HND Quantity Surveying or equivalent.
• Degree in QS or equivalent – desirable.
• Minimum 5 years working as a Quantity Surveyor with good working knowledge of construction processes – essential.
• Experience with multiple contract types (e.g. JCT, NEC) or sector equivalents.
• Clear understanding of contractual terms for sub-contract and main contracts.
• Proficient in MS Office.
• Valid UK driving licence.
• Valid CSCS card.

Responsibilities

• Provide commercial support to site and project managers.
• Monitor and update project costs by reviewing monthly forecasts against actuals.
• Procurement and management of subcontractors from inception to completion.
• Valuation, certification and payments to Sub Contractors.
• Guide operational teams on cost estimation processes and contract requirements.
• Prepare external valuations aligned with contract requirements.
• Forecast external valuations to final account with Clients.
• Present valuation reports and cost estimation to clients and managers.
• Tender and negotiate contracts; prepare lump sum bids and procurement documents.
• Prepare contract documents and ensure effective management of colleagues and apprentices.
