Job summary

Bennett & Game Recruitment LTD is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team in a hybrid role near Chichester. You will take commercial ownership, lead negotiations with clients and subcontractors, and contribute to the wider commercial strategy on complex projects across the UK.

Key requirements include degree in QS or related field, strong NEC/JCT experience, and proven cost control, CVR forecasting and final accounts capabilities.

Qualifications

• Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying or related field or equivalent experience
• Proven experience as QS/Senior QS in construction
• Strong NEC contracts knowledge; JCT beneficial
• Experience managing project commercial delivery, cost control & final accounts
• Experience leading subcontract procurement & negotiations
• Strong contractual admin, risk & financial reporting skills
• Ownership of project commercial performance & advisory capability
• Experience mentoring junior commercial staff
• Excellent numeracy, analytical, communication & negotiation skills
• Proficient with Microsoft Office & commercial reporting systems
• Working towards or holding RICS/CIOB/CIPS membership
• UK passport & five years UK residence; eligible for DV clearance
• Ideally within one hour of Chichester; London access; driving licence beneficial
• Experience in defence/government/infrastructure sectors advantageous

Responsibilities

• Take commercial responsibility for projects from pre-contract to final account
• Lead commercial management, cost control & financial reporting
• Develop budgets, cost forecasts, CVRs & final accounts projections
• Administer NEC contracts; manage EWN, CE, variations & risk
• Lead subcontract procurement & commercial negotiations
• Prepare/payments, valuations, variations & final accounts with clients/subcontractors
• Monitor cash flow, margins & performance; identify risks/opportunities
• Provide commercial updates to Commercial Manager & project teams
• Maintain strong client/consultant/supply chain relationships
• Support and mentor junior commercial staff; promote best practice
• Contribute to commercial strategy & continuous improvement
