Job summary

O'Neill and Brennan seeks a Senior Quantity Surveyor to lead commercial delivery on a £20m highways framework in St Albans. You will manage multiple highway projects (£500k–£2m) within a busy commercial team, with ownership from procurement to final account and regular liaison with clients and subcontractors.

The role offers a salary of £55,000–£60,000 plus a company car, pension and healthcare, plus 2–3 days of home working to balance site, office, and home life.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor/Senior Quantity Surveyor in main contracting, civil engineering or infrastructure.
• Experience on highways/roads or infrastructure projects is advantageous.
• Experience commercially managing multiple projects and subcontract packages.
• Strong commercial awareness with negotiation and communication skills.
• Experience with valuations, variations, forecasting and final accounts.
• Ability to work autonomously while being part of a wider project team.
• Comfortable managing multiple projects simultaneously.
• Based within a commutable distance of St Albans.

Responsibilities

• Take commercial responsibility for multiple highways projects (£500k–£2m).
• Commercially manage projects from procurement to final account.
• Procure and manage subcontract packages from tender to completion.
• Prepare subcontract enquiries, tender analysis and award recommendations.
• Manage subcontractor payments, valuations, variations and final accounts.
• Monitor project costs, forecast expenditure and maintain reports.
• Identify risks and opportunities and implement cost controls.
• Collaborate with project managers, site teams, clients and subs.
• Support the wider commercial team across the £20m framework.
