Job summary

O'Neill and Brennan seeks a Senior Quantity Surveyor to lead commercial delivery on a £20m highways framework in St Albans. You will manage multiple highway projects (£500k–£2m) within a busy commercial team, with ownership from procurement to final account and regular liaison with clients and subcontractors.

The role offers a salary of £55,000–£60,000 plus a company car, pension and healthcare, plus 2–3 days of home working to balance site, office, and home life.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor/Senior Quantity Surveyor in main contracting, civil engineering or infrastructure.
• Experience on highways/roads or infrastructure projects is advantageous.
• Experience commercially managing multiple projects and subcontract packages.
• Strong commercial awareness with negotiation and communication skills.
• Experience with valuations, variations, forecasting and final accounts.
• Ability to work autonomously while being part of a wider project team.
• Comfortable managing multiple projects simultaneously.
• Based within a commutable distance of St Albans.

O'Neill and Brennan are currently working with an established and growing infrastructure contractor who are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team in St Albans.

Opportunity

The successful candidate will take commercial responsibility across multiple projects delivered through a £20m highways framework, with individual projects ranging from approximately £500k - £2m.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Quantity Surveyor looking for a role offering genuine responsibility, variety and long-term stability. You will have significant ownership across multiple projects while working as part of an established commercial team.

Requirements

• Proven experience working as a Quantity Surveyor/Senior Quantity Surveyor within a main contracting, civil engineering or infrastructure environment
• Previous experience working on highways, roads or other infrastructure projects would be advantageous
• Experience commercially managing multiple projects and subcontract packages
• Strong commercial awareness with excellent negotiation and communication skills
• Experience with valuations, variations, forecasting and final accounts
• Ability to operate autonomously while working effectively as part of a wider project team
• Comfortable managing multiple projects simultaneously
• Based within a commutable distance of St Albans
