Job summary

PPM Recruitment is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join a growing construction and development business in Peterborough. You will oversee commercial and cost management across large healthcare projects, coordinating with clients, contractors and site teams to keep projects on budget and quality standards.

The role requires a minimum of five years’ experience, a Degree in Quantity Surveying, and strong knowledge of JCT/NEC contracts.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years' experience in a Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management role.
• Degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
• Experience carrying out full pre- and post-contract duties.
• Proven experience working on large-scale construction projects from conception through to completion.
• Strong analytical and commercial approach to managing costs, risks and opportunities.
• Excellent client-facing and stakeholder management skills.
• Good knowledge of JCT and NEC forms of contract.
• Strong communication, negotiation and reporting abilities.
• Healthcare or complex construction experience would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Manage all aspects of quantity surveying services across assigned projects.
• Lead tendering, procurement and subcontractor appointment processes.
• Undertake full pre- and post-contract commercial duties.
• Prepare monthly CVRs, financial reports and management accounts.
• Monitor project costs, cash flow, risks and commercial opportunities.
• Prepare detailed costed risk registers and mitigation strategies.
• Advise on contract documentation and procurement strategies.
• Manage variations, valuations, final accounts and commercial disputes.
• Attend and chair meetings with clients and project stakeholders.
• Monitor project milestones and deliverables alongside Contracts Managers.
• Work closely with site teams to identify and resolve commercial and project-related issues.
• Prepare and present financial and commercial reports to clients and senior management.
• Support estimating and pre-construction activities where required.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior members of the commercial team.
