Job summary

INDCOM in Derby is seeking a Quantity Surveyor with strong groundworks experience to manage post-contract commercial activity on a £3.5m warehouse groundworks package. The role is site-based with a 3/2 on-site/remote mix, offering both permanent and freelance paths.

You will drive cost control, CVR reviews and final accounts, coordinating with the project team. The ideal candidate will have groundworks/civil exposure, strong procurement knowledge and a proven track record of post-contract

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within groundworks / civil engineering.
• Strong knowledge of subcontract procurement and account management.
• Experience with valuations, variations, CVRs and final accounts.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Take responsibility for the post-contract commercial management of the £3.5m groundworks package.
• Managing project costs, budgets and forecasts.
• Preparing and reviewing CVRs and financial reports.
• Managing subcontractor accounts and payments.
• Reviewing and agreeing valuations.
• Managing variations, compensation events and additional works.
• Monitoring project performance against budget and identifying risks/opportunities.
• Managing applications for payment and cash flow.
• Preparing and agreeing final accounts.
• Reviewing contract documentation and ensuring contractual compliance.
• Working closely with the Project Manager and site team.
• Liaising with the main contractor, client and supply chain.
• Providing accurate commercial information to senior management.
• Supporting the successful commercial delivery of the project from start to finish.

The business works on a range of prestigious commercial projects and has built its reputation around technical expertise, dependable project delivery and a highly skilled workforce.

Due to a new project in Derby, they are looking to appoint an experienced Groundworks Quantity Surveyor to take responsibility for the post-contract commercial management of a major groundworks package.

The Role

The successful Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for the post-contract commercial management of a £3.5m warehouse groundworks package in Derby.

This is a site-based commercial role requiring someone with a strong background in groundworks and civil engineering, who is confident managing the commercial aspects of a project from contract award through to final account.

The role offers a flexible working arrangement of 3 days on site and 2 days working from home.

Both permanent and freelance candidates will be considered.

The Ideal Candidate

• Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within groundworks / civil engineering
• Strong groundworks experience is essential
• Experience managing post-contract commercial activities
• Previous experience working on projects of £3m+ would be advantageous
• Strong knowledge of subcontract procurement and account management
• Experience with valuations, variations, CVRs and final accounts
• Strong commercial and contractual knowledge
• Excellent cost control and forecasting skills
• Good understanding of groundworks construction and methodology
• Strong negotiation and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of the commercial function
• Strong Excel and general IT skills
• Relevant Quantity Surveying or commercial qualification would be advantageous
• Full UK driving licence

The successful QS will take responsibility for the post-contract commercial management of the groundworks package, working closely with the operational team to ensure the project is delivered successfully and commercially.
