Job summary

Galliford Try is recruiting 2x Senior Quantity Surveyors to support a major £300m highways project in Cheltenham. You will work with Managing Quantity Surveyors to manage commercial admin, reporting and performance on the scheme.

The role requires NEC contract knowledge, experience on large highways projects, and strong IT skills (Excel, Word, CEMAR, Oracle). Membership of MCIOB or MRICS is preferred; be part of a dynamic team delivering value and long-term growth.

Qualifications

  • Good appreciation of NEC contracts.
  • Experience on major highways schemes.
  • Strong IT skills including Excel, Word & Contractual and Cost Management Systems (CEMAR, Oracle).
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication capabilities.
  • Professional qualification such as MCIOB or MRICS, ideally Incorporated member or working towards full membership.

Responsibilities

  • Main contract administration – with primary focus on change management (compensation event quotations) and the internal reporting.
  • Produce and negotiate Subcontract documentation, including terms, prices, and programme
  • Manage subcontract works packages, including interim assessments and change management
  • Produce and issue all commercial notices to both the Client and Subcontractors as required by the contract
  • Oversee and manage changes in a timely manner, including Compensation Event Quotations
  • Produce, submit, and agree monthly applications with the Client per contract terms.
  • Liaise with operational and engineering staff to maintain required site records
  • Produce detailed monthly reports, Cost Value Reconciliation (CVR), and maintain a 'Cost Plan' with expenditure tracking and forecasting

Job description

Purpose of the role:

Galliford Try is looking for 2x Senior Quantity Surveyors to join our Infrastructure division, supporting the successful delivery of our new £300m highways project in Cheltenham. Scope of works include enabling earthworks, widening to the existing road, new link road and various structures.

You will work closely with the Managing Quantity Surveyors and wider site team in order to manage the commercial administration, reporting and performance on this major highways development.

What will you be doing:
  1. Ensure a safe working environment
  2. Main contract administration – with primary focus on change management (compensation event quotations) and the internal reporting
  3. Ensure works are compliant with the contract and the business management procedures
  4. Produce and negotiate Subcontract documentation, including terms, prices, and programme
  5. Manage subcontract works packages, including interim assessments and change management
  6. Produce and issue all commercial notices to both the Client and Subcontractors as required by the contract
  7. Oversee and manage changes in a timely manner, including Compensation Event Quotations
