Job summary

Galliford Try is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor for the Banwell Bypass project in North Somerset. You will manage commercial administration, reporting and performance to drive cost control and support contract management on a major highway scheme.

You will produce monthly applications, oversee subcontract packages, and maintain site records, CVR, and cost forecasting. A professional qualification (MCIOB/MRICS) is desirable; substantial experience in large schemes is preferred.

Qualifications

• Good appreciation of standard forms of contract.
• Strong IT skills including Excel, Word & Contractual and Cost Management Systems (CEMAR, Oracle).
• Strong stakeholder management and communication capabilities.
• Solid knowledge of construction processes.
• Professional qualification such as MCIOB or MRICS, ideally Incorporated member, working towards full membership (Desirable).
• Relevant degree and/or experience of working in a relevant Commercial environment.
• Experience of working on large single or multiple smaller schemes.
• CSCS appropriate.
• First class time and outcome management skills.

• Liaise with operational and engineering staff to maintain required site records.
• Produce detailed monthly reports, Cost Value Reconciliation (CVR), and maintain a 'Cost Plan' with expenditure tracking and forecasting.

Role – Senior Quantity Surveyor - Banwell Bypass

Location – Banwell

Purpose of the role:

Join Galliford Try as a Senior Quantity Surveyor on the Banwell Bypass project in North Somerset — a major highways scheme delivering a new 3.3km carriageway with junctions, earthworks, drainage and structures. This is a high-profile project managing commercial administration, reporting, and performance to ensure successful delivery. You’ll play a key role in driving cost control, supporting contract management, and contributing to one of the region’s major infrastructure schemes.
