About the role

Join our Power Commercial team as a Senior Quantity Surveyor and you'll deliver complex work that really matters to our business and become involved in some of the biggest infrastructure projects in the industry.

Location: Scotland - Based at the Maxim Park office in Motherwell, with regular travel to support our East Coast Overhead Line project in Dundee.

This is a hybrid role, combining time at the Maxim Park office with regular site visits to Dundee. Flexible working arrangements, including Office/home working, are available in line with Balfour Beatty's Smart Working policy.

What you'll be doing

• Manage costs in relation to infrastructure projects with experience of identifying commercial risks and opportunities in respect of their works
• Deliver varied commercial duties including responsibility for procuring and managing supply chain
• Optimise commercial performance through diligent cost control and value for money opportunities, whilst achieving the required standards and quality for our customers
• Create and maintain commercial relationships to both internal and external stakeholders
• Contract administration with both client and subcontractors
• Provide support and adherence for the Gated Business Lifecycle process
• Mentor and develop junior members of the team
• Proactively drive career and personal development, including professional certification
• Proactively drive career and personal development, including professional certification
• Commercial management of a large infrastructure project or a portfolio of smaller projects

Who we're looking for

You will have the following qualities/experience:

• BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying or experience equivalent
• Membership of RICS, ICES or CIOB (or working towards)
• Experience with key contracts such as NEC
• Good communication skills
