Job summary

Build Recruitment is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our Liverpool-based team, delivering cost management across commercial and public sector projects. You will manage cost and commercial aspects, prepare estimates and tender docs, conduct cost planning, oversee procurement, and certify payments, ensuring delivery on budget.

The role requires degree in QS and at least 3 years’ post-graduate experience, with exposure to new build and refurbishment.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or related discipline.
• Minimum 3 years’ post-graduate experience (intermediate/senior roles considered).
• Proven background in both new build and refurbishment projects.
• Membership of RICS (or working towards) desirable.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and work collaboratively within a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage all cost and commercial aspects of assigned construction and refurbishment projects.
• Prepare accurate cost estimates, budgets, and tender documentation.
• Conduct cost planning and value engineering exercises throughout design development.
• Oversee procurement, including subcontractor tendering and contract negotiation.
• Provide ongoing cost reporting and financial management to ensure projects are delivered on budget.
• Assess and certify subcontractor payments and variations.
• Prepare and agree final accounts.
• Liaise with clients, project managers, contractors, and design teams to maintain smooth project delivery.
• Ensure all work complies with company standards, contracts, and health & safety requirements.
