Job summary

1st Executive is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to lead a QS team and provide commercial assurance across a diverse project portfolio. The role focuses on value for money, contract compliance, and strong governance across project lifecycle stages.

You will mentor/lead a team, align commercial strategies with project objectives and support effective financial controls and reporting to drive outcomes.

Qualifications

• Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent.
• Experience leading a team of Quantity Surveyors.
• Extensive experience across pre- and post-contract stages.
• Strong knowledge of contract administration, cost management and governance.
• Experience negotiating with contractors and suppliers.
• Experience with variations, extensions of time, claims or disputes.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of Quantity Surveyors with direction and development.
• Provide commercial assurance across a portfolio of major projects.
• Offer commercial and contractual advice to project teams.
• Review tenders to ensure robust commercial outcomes.
• Ensure payments are certified and made per contract.
• Assess changes and their financial impacts.
• Support budget management and expenditure optimization.
• Collect and analyse commercial data for reporting.
• Audit and agree project accounts with controls.
• Monitor contractual compliance across the portfolio.
• Identify risks and implement corrective actions.
• Assist senior commercial colleagues with claims and disputes.
• Provide commercial insight to senior stakeholders.
