Job summary

JobMatcha Ltd in Bristol is urgently seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to lead commercial management on a major civil engineering project. You will oversee costs, payments, valuations and subcontract accounts while liaising with project managers and clients to protect commercial interests.

The role requires proven civil engineering QS experience, NEC contract awareness and strong negotiation skills, with the ability to work independently on multiple priorities on a long-term contract basis.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within civil engineering.
• Strong commercial and contractual knowledge.
• Experience managing civil projects and subcontract packages.
• Experience with valuations, variations, final accounts and cost reporting.
• Excellent negotiation and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Take responsibility for the commercial management of civil engineering projects.
• Manage project costs, budgets, forecasts and cash flow.
• Prepare and manage applications for payment, valuations and final accounts.
• Manage subcontractor accounts, payments and variations.
• Review and assess changes, variations and compensation events.
• Monitor project performance and identify commercial risks and opportunities.
• Prepare accurate monthly cost/value reports and forecasts.
• Assist with procurement and subcontractor negotiations.
• Manage contractual and commercial correspondence.
• Work closely with Project Managers, Site Managers, clients and subcontractors.
• Provide commercial advice to the project team.
• Ensure contractual obligations and commercial procedures are followed.
• Support the successful delivery of projects within budget and programme.
