Responsibilities

• Prepare and manage valuations, applications and payments.
• Monitor project costs, budgets and forecasts.
• Manage variations, compensation events and commercial changes.
• Prepare and submit interim valuations and final accounts.
• Review subcontractor performance and commercial relationships.
• Identify commercial risks and opportunities.
• Provide cost reporting and forecasting to senior management.
• Collaborate with Project Manager and site team.

The Opportunity

Sphere Solutions are currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a well-established construction and project delivery business working on a substantial residential apartment development in Bristol.

The project involves the construction of a multi-storey RC frame apartment scheme, progressing through the external envelope and commercial finishing stages. The successful Senior Quantity Surveyor will take responsibility for the commercial management of the project through to completion.

This is a 9-month opportunity, ideal for a Senior QS with strong experience across residential, apartments, reinforced concrete frame and finishing packages.

Key Responsibilities

• Take commercial responsibility for the project from pre-construction through to completion.
• Manage subcontract and supplier accounts.
• Procurement and negotiation of subcontract packages.
• Prepare and manage valuations, applications and payments.
• Monitor project costs, budgets and forecasts.
• Manage variations, compensation events and commercial changes.
• Prepare and submit interim valuations and final accounts.
• Manage subcontractor performance and commercial relationships.
• Review and agree subcontractor variations and accounts.
• Identify commercial risks and opportunities.
• Provide accurate cost reporting and forecasting to senior management.
• Work closely with the Project Manager and site team.
• Support the delivery of the RC frame, external envelope and apartment finishing packages.
• Ensure all commercial records and project documentation are maintained accurately.
• Assist with project close-out and final accounts.

Experience Required

• Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor.
• Strong background within main contracting.
• Experience on residential apartment developments.
• Experience working on RC frame projects.
• Good understanding of external envelope and finishing packages.
• Strong subcontract procurement and commercial management experience.
• Experience managing variations, valuations and final accounts.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Ability to work independently while supporting the wider project team.
