Job summary

VolkerStevin is recruiting a Senior Quantity Surveyor for its Sizewell C work, with Woodbridge as the location. The role reports to the site Project Manager and covers commercial and contractual matters for the allocated project.

The surveyor will manage surveyors or assistant surveyors, with potential responsibility for defined sections under a Managing Quantity Surveyor or Commercial Manager. The position includes mentoring colleagues and advising the site team on commercial requirements.

Qualifications

• Applicants need adequate Senior Quantity Surveyor experience.
• The stated qualification routes include professionally accredited courses, relevant technical or numerical degrees and construction-related HND subjects.
• A quantity-surveying degree with relevant experience is desirable.

Responsibilities

Job description

The permanent position reports to the site Project Manager and covers commercial and contractual matters for the allocated project. The surveyor will manage surveyors or assistant surveyors; on larger projects, responsibility may cover defined sections under a Managing Quantity Surveyor or Commercial Manager.

The work includes:

• forecasting
• cost and value reporting
• subcontract procurement
• cash-flow management

Responsibilities extend to preparing procurement schedules, reviewing tender allowances and establishing the first profit and loss forecast. The surveyor will check subcontract scope, measure completed work, review account records and maintain subcontract liabilities and accruals. The posting also requires attention to contractual notices, payment collection and the recovery of recorded contra-charges.
