Job summary

Story Contracting Limited is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the team in Scotland. You will manage project costs from concept through to completion, oversee contractual commitments and provide CVR reporting.

The role requires strong communication and stakeholder management across rail, infrastructure and civils projects. The successful candidate will have a professional qualification (MRICS/MCIPS) and a proven track record in cost control, reporting and working with diverse supply

The Role

As part of a team of Quantity Surveyors and reporting to the Managing Quantity Surveyor you will manage project costs from concept to completion. You will oversee contractual commitments and challenge and support to identify best value solutions. With excellent communication skills, you will be client focused with the ability to build and manage effective relationships with multiple stakeholders, internal colleagues and supply chain partners.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will hold a commercial qualification and have extensive contract knowledge as well as CVR and Reporting experience. You should be able to demonstrate previous experience of working within rail, infrastructure and civil engineering sectors and possess the ability to manage projects with minimal supervision.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A commercial qualification and have CVR and Target Cost experience in addition to ICC & NEC3 Forms of Contract knowledge
  • Experience of working within the rail industry, infrastructure, civils and frameworks.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbally and written
  • Ability to develop close relationships, particularly with the key influencers for the Project
  • A well organised and disciplined approach, demonstrating the ability to accurately analyse and report on information gained
  • Confidence to work on own initiative with good planning and preparation skills
