Job summary

Search Consultancy Ltd is assisting a well-established civil engineering and infrastructure contractor to recruit a Quantity Surveyor to join their growing team in Scotland. The successful candidate will manage the commercial and financial performance of projects across rail, civils and infrastructure, liaising with operations and clients to protect commercial interests.

Qualifications

• Experience as Quantity Surveyor or commercial role in civil engineering, rail, or infrastructure.
• Solid understanding of commercial management, cost control, valuations and final accounts.
• Knowledge of NEC3/NEC4 contracts and contractual change management.

Responsibilities

• Managing the commercial and financial aspects of civil engineering and infrastructure projects from inception through to completion.
• Preparing, submitting and agreeing interim valuations, applications for payment and final accounts.
• Monitoring project costs, budgets, forecasts and cash flow to ensure commercial targets are achieved.
• Managing subcontractor procurement, valuations, payments and final account negotiations.
• Identifying and managing contractual risks, variations, compensation events and change control.
• Building strong working relationships with project managers, site teams, clients, subcontractors and other key stakeholders.

We are working with a well-established civil engineering and infrastructure contractor to assist them in hiring a Quantity Surveyor for their growing team.

As the Quantity Surveyor, your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

• Managing the commercial and financial aspects of civil engineering and infrastructure projects from inception through to completion.
• Preparing, submitting and agreeing interim valuations, applications for payment and final accounts.

The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate:

• Previous experience in a Quantity Surveying or commercial role within civil engineering, rail, infrastructure or a related construction environment.
• A good understanding of commercial management, cost control, valuations and final accounts.
• Knowledge of construction contracts, ideally NEC3/NEC4, and experience managing contractual changes.
• Strong communication, negotiation and analytical skills, with the ability to work effectively alongside operational teams.
• A proactive and commercially focused approach, with excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
