We are currently working with an established consultancy looking to recruit a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join its growing infrastructure team. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of major projects, providing commercial expertise and cost management services throughout the project lifecycle.

The successful candidate will have experience across both pre- and post-contract stages and will play an important role in delivering projects efficiently, managing commercial risks and providing clients with effective, value-driven solutions.

Projects may span a variety of infrastructure sectors, including:

  • Highways and transportation
  • Rail and public transport
  • Energy, including nuclear and renewables
  • Utilities, including water and communications
  • Defence infrastructure
  • Aviation

Experience in every sector is not essential. We are looking for a commercially astute professional with relevant infrastructure experience, a proactive approach and the ambition to take ownership of projects while continuing to develop their expertise.

The Role

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for providing commercial and cost management support across a range of infrastructure projects, working closely with clients, contractors and multidisciplinary project teams.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing project costs, budgets, commercial risks and contractual obligations.
  • Administering NEC contracts and advising on contractual and commercial matters.
  • Preparing cost estimates, commercial reports and financial assessments.
  • Developing procurement strategies and preparing tender documentation, including Invitation to Tender (ITT) packages.
  • Supporting tender assessments, procurement processes and contract negotiations.
  • Applying appropriate methods of measurement, including CESMM and relevant highway measurement standards.
  • Identifying opportunities for value engineering, cost efficiencies and sustainable project solutions.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients and key project stakeholders.
  • Coordinating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure projects are delivered in line with agreed budgets, programmes and objectives.
  • Providing technical guidance, mentoring and support to junior team members.
  • Contributing to project leadership, client development and wider business growth activities.
About You

To be considered for this opportunity, you should have:

  • A degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related discipline.
  • Experience working as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor within infrastructure or a similar construction environment.
  • A strong understanding of pre- and post-contract commercial management.
  • Experience administering the NEC suite of contracts.
  • Knowledge of relevant measurement standards, including CESMM and highway measurement methods where applicable.
  • Experience preparing procurement documentation, tender packages and ITT documents.
  • A sound understanding of construction techniques, technology and project delivery.
  • The ability to manage projects independently, prioritise workloads and work with minimal supervision.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with clients and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and associated commercial reporting tools.
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach, with an interest in delivering sustainable and cost-effective outcomes.
  • Experience mentoring junior colleagues and contributing to the development of client relationships.
  • A recognised professional qualification or progress towards chartership would be advantageous.

The successful candidate can expect:

  • A competitive salary and attractive benefits package.
  • Hybrid and flexible working arrangements.
