Job summary

Murphy is recruiting a Senior Quantity Surveyor to work on the EGL2 project in York. The role focuses on managing commercial activities, valuations, procurement and cost reporting for a major energy/transmission project.

The successful candidate will have NEC contracts experience, be a Chartered/ICES/RICS member, and work on civil construction initiatives within an evolving energy sector.

Qualifications

• Senior Quantity Surveyor with experience in civil/major construction projects.
• Strong knowledge of NEC contracts and cost management.

Responsibilities

• Ensure site team adheres to group procedures and governance.
• Management of internal commercial reporting and any other reports required.
• Preparation of valuations/applications for payment with full supporting documentation.
• Oversee cost reports to client with contractually compliant documentation.
• Management of subcontract and material procurement schedules.
• Administration of subcontractor/supplier accounts and final accounts.
• Undertake contract administration including change management and registers.
• Identify commercial risks, opportunities, value engineering and change.
• Use cost allocation/coding satisfying internal and external requirements.
• Measurement of quantities as per standard methods.

A day in the life of a Murphy Senior Quantity Surveyor

• Ensure the site team adheres to group procedures and governance


• Management of internal commercial reporting and any other reports which may be required


• Preparation of Valuations/Applications for Payment with full supporting documentation in accordance with the contract


• Oversee Cost Reports to the Client with contractually compliant supporting documentation


• Management of subcontract and material procurement schedules


• Administration of subcontractor/supplier accounts from the preparation of detailed requisitions, monitoring and authorisation of subcontract payments through to agreement of final accounts


• Undertake the contract administration, including change management and maintain associated registers


• Identifying commercial risks, opportunities, value engineering and change


• Use the cost allocation/coding which satisfies both internal and external requirements


• Measurement of quantities in accordance with the standard methods of measurement as required

• Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor or a times served Quantity Surveyor looking to step up.


• Solid knowledge across NEC Contracts.


• Registered with RICS / ICES and working towards chartership.


• Experience on Civil Engineering and/or Major Construction Projects.
