Job summary

STRABAG UK seeks an ambitious Senior Quantity Surveyor to deliver the SRFI contract at SEGRO Logistics Park Radlett in Hertfordshire. You will manage commercial issues, develop team capability, and ensure governance across the project with a focus on cost control and value optimisation.

The role requires NEC Option A knowledge, RICS/ICES toward Chartership, and strong communication skills to support procurement, risk analysis, and claims management.

Qualifications

  • Experience in commercial issues within projects and governance.
  • Understanding of Standard Forms of Contract and measurement methods.
  • Strong communication, presentations and negotiation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide advice on commercial issues within the project.
  • Develop a culture of commercial awareness within the team.
  • Ensure site team follows group procedures and governance.
  • Develop and manage junior staff performance.
  • Prepare internal commercial reporting and valuations for payment.
  • Prepare cost reports and manage subcontract and material procurement schedules.
  • Administer subcontractor/supplier accounts through to final accounts.
  • Manage change, risk, and cost control with regular cost-to-complete analysis.
  • Draft complex subcontract arrangements and insurance considerations.
  • Assist in work-winning duties and PQQ responses.

STRABAG UK are seeking an ambitious and proven Senior Quantity Surveyor to help deliver our contract for the Strategic Rail Freight Interchange (SRFI) at SEGRO Logistics Park Radlett.

  • Degreequalified, A levels &HNC (construction related)
  • Registeredwith RICS / ICES and working towards Chartership
  • Commercially astute. Excellent knowledge ofStandard Forms of Contract and Standard Methods of Measurement.
  • Computerliterate with strong skills in Microsoft Office Applications(Word/Excel/Outlook/PowerPoint)
  • Goodcommunication skills including presentations and ability to negotiate andpersuade others.
  • Programmingtechniques, project controls, risk analysis, contract admin, procurement,cost, claims.
  • NEC Option AKnowledge and Project Experience at a Senior QS level

About the Role
  • We are seeking an ambitious Senior Quantity Surveyor to help deliver our contract for the Strategic Rail Freight Interchange (SRFI) at SEGRO Logistics Park Radlett.
  • Located at the former Radlett Aerodrome site in Hertfordshire, SEGRO LogisticsPark Radlett will deliver a state-of-the-art rail freight terminal completewith extensive distribution warehouses and over 600 acres of enhanced greenspace.
  • The development aims to shift freight transportation from road to rail,significantly reducing carbon emissions and road congestion.
  • Construction is anticipated to take place over the next two - three years.
  • The scheme also promises numerous community and environmental benefits,including biodiversity net gain, employment and training opportunities, andintegrated transport improvements.
Requirements:
  • To provide assistance, support and advice on all commercial issues within the Project(s).
  • Encourage and develop a culture of commercial awareness within the team.
  • Ensure the site team adheres to group procedures and governance.
  • Development, motivation & performance management of junior staff
  • Delegation of appropriate work to junior staff, whilst maintaining accountability
  • Preparation of internal commercial reporting and any other reports which may be required.
  • Preparation of Valuations/Application for payment with full supporting documentation in accordance with the contract.
  • Preparation of Cost Reports to the Client with contractually compliant supporting documentation.
  • Preparation and management of subcontract and material procurement schedules.
  • Administration of subcontractor/supplier accounts from the preparation of detailed requisitions, monitoring and authorisation of subcontract payments through to agreement of final accounts.
  • Undertake the contract administration, including change management and maintain associated registers.
  • Identifying commercial risks, opportunities, value engineering and change.
  • Ensure the correct site records are maintained.
  • Implement a WBS structure to satisfy the Client & Contract requirements.
  • Have an up-to-date Cost to Complete and Risk analysis Register for the projects(s).
  • Preparation, negotiation and agreement of change events, extension of time claims, final accounts etc.
  • Measurement of quantities in accordance with the standard methods of measurement as required.
  • Ensure appropriate Client Management is initiated and maintained.
  • Drafting of complex subcontract arrangement including professional services & appropriate terms of engagement.
  • Identification and advice upon of insurance related issues, including PI.
  • Maximising of cash position, including WIP control, cash flow production & improvement plans.
  • Maintain / assist in the production of the margin improvement plan on the project.
  • Assist in work winning duties as required, including technical writing for PQQ responses.
  • Undertake any other work as required of you by your line manager.
  • Attend client engagement events for equivalent level customer feedback.
  • Involvement in Business Improvement Initiatives.
