Job summary

Solution Search Limited - Construction in East London seeks an experienced Quantity Surveyor to lead commercial management across multiple projects. You will take full responsibility from pre-construction to final account, shaping commercial strategy with autonomy and close collaboration with Directors and project teams.

The role requires at least 4 years at senior level, strong knowledge of JCT contracts, and proven independent project delivery.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years' experience as a Quantity Surveyor (Senior level)
• Experience working for a main contractor
• Strong knowledge of JCT contracts
• Proven ability to manage projects independently
• Excellent negotiation and communication skills
• Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail
• Degree in Quantity Surveying or related field preferred
• RICS accreditation desirable but not essential

Responsibilities

• Manage all commercial aspects of projects from tender to final account
• Prepare cost plans, budgets, and feasibility assessments
• Oversee subcontractor procurement, negotiation and contract administration
• Handle valuations, variations, and interim payments
• Produce cost reporting and cash flow forecasts

Job description

Well-established, small building contractor based in East London, delivering high-quality residential and commercial projects across London and the surrounding areas require an experienced Quantity surveyor to join their team and play a key role in the commercial management of their projects.

Reporting to the Directors, you will take full commercial responsibility for 3-4 projects from pre-construction through to final account. This is a hands‑on role offering real autonomy and the opportunity to influence commercial strategy within a growing business.

Key Responsibilities

• Managing all commercial aspects of projects from tender to final account
• Preparing cost plans, budgets, and feasibility assessments
• Subcontractor procurement, negotiation, and contract administration
• Valuations, variations, and interim applications for payment
• Cost reporting and cash flow forecasting
• Ensuring projects are delivered within budget and margin targets
• Liaising with clients, subcontractors, and project teams

You will be

• Experienced as a Quantity Surveyor, with at least 4 years at Senior level
• Have experience working for a main contractor
• Strong knowledge of JCT contracts
• Proven experience managing projects independently
• Excellent negotiation and communication skills
• Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail
• Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or similar (preferred)
• RICS accreditation (desirable but not essential)
