Job summary

Girling Jones Ltd in Plympton, Devon, is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to lead commercial delivery on NEC4 framework projects within the water utilities sector. Based from the Plympton office, you’ll work with a supportive team and drive profitable project outcomes.

You will mentor two Assistant Quantity Surveyors, manage valuations, change control and subcontract procurement, and ensure robust contractual governance across multiple schemes.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor within civil engineering, utilities or infrastructure.
• Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts, ideally NEC4.
• Previous experience within water infrastructure or utilities would be particularly advantageous.
• Excellent commercial awareness and contract management skills.
• The ability to manage your own workload while supporting junior colleagues.
• A collaborative approach and the confidence to work closely with operational and commercial teams.

A senior commercial role with the opportunity to make a real impact

We're working with a well-established regional contractor that has secured a strong pipeline of work within the water utilities sector and is looking to strengthen its commercial team with the appointment of an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor.

Based from their Plympton office, you'll be joining a friendly, supportive team with an excellent commercial manager who believes in giving people the autonomy to do their job while providing support whenever it's needed.

This is an opportunity to take ownership of the commercial delivery of projects on an established water utilities framework, while also helping to support and develop two Assistant Quantity Surveyors.

The Role

As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you'll take a leading role in managing the commercial performance of projects operating under the NEC4 form of contract.

You'll have responsibility for the day-to-day commercial management of framework schemes, working closely with operational teams to ensure projects are delivered efficiently, profitably and in accordance with contractual requirements.

You'll also provide guidance and support to two Assistant Quantity Surveyors, helping them develop their commercial knowledge and experience.

What We're Looking For
