Job summary

Kenton Black is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor for groundworks and infrastructure projects in Bedfordshire. You will lead commercial management across multiple sites, ensuring profitability, contractual compliance, and successful delivery.

Responsibilities include valuations, cash flow, cost control, and subcontract administration, with mentoring for junior staff. A strong background in groundworks and infrastructure is essential.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within groundworks, infrastructure, or civil engineering.
• Strong understanding of roads, drainage, foundations and external works.
• Excellent commercial and contractual knowledge.
• Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
• Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience producing CVRs, forecasts, and financial reports.
• Relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management.

• Prepare, review, and negotiate interim valuations, variations, and final accounts.
• Produce accurate monthly CVRs, forecasts, and cash flow reports.

• Manage subcontract procurement, appointments, and account administration.
• Provide commercial support to operational teams throughout project delivery.
• Identify and implement value engineering opportunities.
• Maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, and supply chain partners.
• Support and mentor junior Quantity Surveyors and Assistant Quantity Surveyors.

Our client is a leading groundworks and infrastructure contractor with an annual turnover in excess of £100 million, delivering large-scale residential infrastructure and groundwork packages for many of the UK's leading housebuilders and developers.
With a reputation for technical excellence, commercial strength, and high-quality project delivery, the business has established itself as a key player within the residential infrastructure sector. Due to continued growth and a substantial pipeline of secured projects, they are now seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team in Bedfordshire.

The Role
This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially driven Senior Quantity Surveyor to play a key role within a highly successful contractor. The successful candidate will be responsible for the commercial management of multiple groundworks and infrastructure projects, ensuring financial performance, contractual compliance, and successful project delivery.
Working closely with Commercial Managers, Contracts Managers, and Operational teams, you will take ownership of projects from procurement through to final account.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
• Relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or Construction Management (HNC/HND/Degree preferred)
