Job summary

Kenton Black is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor for a residential groundworks contractor in Bourne. The role focuses on commercial leadership across multiple sites, ensuring profitability, accurate reporting, and contractual compliance throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Produce and review monthly CVRs and cost reports.
• Monitor costs, forecasts and cash flow across sites.
• Manage subcontractor procurement and final accounts.
• Collaborate with operations and clients to resolve commercial issues.
• Identify value engineering opportunities and mentor junior staff.

About the Company

Our client is a well-established residential groundworks contractor based in Bourne Lincolnshire, delivering infrastructure and groundwork packages for some of the UK's leading housebuilders. With an annual turnover of approximately £50 million, the business has experienced sustained growth and continues to secure major residential developments across the region.

Due to continued expansion and a strong pipeline of secured projects, they are now seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to strengthen their commercial team.

The Role

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially astute Senior Quantity Surveyor with strong residential groundworks experience to join a growing and forward-thinking contractor. The successful candidate will oversee the commercial management of multiple projects, ensuring profitability, cost control, and contractual compliance throughout the project lifecycle.

The role offers hybrid working, long-term progression opportunities, and involvement in large-scale residential infrastructure schemes.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the commercial management of multiple residential groundworks projects
• Maximise contract profitability and monitor financial performance
• Prepare and agree quotations for variations and additional works
• Produce and review accurate monthly cost and value reports (CVRs)
• Monitor project costs, forecasts, and cash flow across multiple sites
• Manage subcontractor procurement, payments, and final accounts
• Work closely with operational teams and clients to resolve commercial matters
• Identify and implement value engineering opportunities
• Mentor and support junior commercial staff where required
• Maintain accurate commercial reporting and contractual documentation

Skills & Experience Required

• Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within residential groundworks
• Strong understanding of infrastructure, roads, drainage, and foundations packages
• Excellent commercial and contractual knowledge
• Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
• Strong time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines
• Experience in value engineering and cost control
• Proficient in Microsoft Office packages including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills
