Job summary

Ashbrittle, in partnership with a highly regarded fit-out and refurbishment contractor, invites a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join its commercial team in Hatfield. You will oversee commercial delivery on multiple refurbishment and fit-out projects, from pre-construction to final account, ensuring profitability and strict commercial control.

The ideal candidate has significant QS experience, strong JCT knowledge, and excels in negotiation, Excel reporting, and client liaison.

Qualifications

• Significant experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor in the construction industry.
• Previous experience working for a main contractor, ideally delivering refurbishment or fit-out projects.
• Strong contractual knowledge, including JCT forms of contract.
• Proven experience managing projects from procurement through to final account.
• Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
• Strong commercial awareness with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and commercial reporting systems.

Responsibilities

• Managing the commercial performance of multiple refurbishment and fit-out projects.
• Preparing, submitting and agreeing interim valuations and final accounts.
• Producing accurate monthly cost reports, CVRs and cash flow forecasts.
• Procuring subcontract packages and negotiating favourable commercial terms.
• Managing subcontractor accounts, valuations, variations and final accounts.
• Administering contract changes and ensuring all variations are captured and valued.
• Identifying commercial risks and implementing mitigation strategies.
• Providing commercial support to operational teams throughout project delivery.
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, consultants and the supply chain.
• Supporting value engineering initiatives to maximise project profitability.
• Mentoring and supporting junior members of the commercial team where required.

The Role

You will take commercial responsibility for multiple refurbishment and fit-out projects from pre-construction through to final account. Working closely with Contracts Managers and clients, you will ensure projects are delivered profitably while maintaining excellent commercial control throughout.

About You
