Job summary

Fortem Solutions is seeking a motivated Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our Northern Projects division. This permanent, full-time role can be based in Grimsby or Boston with travel to norther contracts.

The Senior QS will support our commercial management function, ensuring contractual entitlements and robust cost control. You will work on Lincolnshire Housing Partnership refurbishment projects, manage invoicing, cash flow, and sub-contractor oversight, while developing the team and upholding

Qualifications

  • 5 GCSEs and A levels completed.
  • Industry related qualification required.
  • Experience in Social Housing refurbishment contracts.
  • Strong IT skills including Excel (V-Lookup, Pivot tables).
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel.
  • Knowledge of contract conditions and law.
  • Experience with management accounts.
  • Experience in dispute resolution.
  • Background in construction or social housing refurbishment is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Secure full entitlement within the contract.
  • Manage commercial aspects of Capital Works and Retrofit contracts.
  • Promote company values and procedures.
  • Ensure project teams meet or exceed budget targets.
  • Act as SME on contractual arrangements.
  • Maximise cash flow through invoicing and resolving client queries.
  • Monitor costs and revenue to support data-driven decisions.
  • Manage disputes and identify issues early.
  • Ensure accurate cash flow forecasts and revenue profiles.
  • Support financial reporting and cost governance.
  • Oversee subcontractor orders, supplier onboarding, and team development.

Job description

As part of our continued growth and an internal promotion, we are looking for a motivated and professional Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our Northern Projects division. This is a permanent, full time position and can be based in either Grimsby or Boston with travel across the norther contracts. The Senior QS will have a key role in our commercial management function, providing proactive and timely support.

This role can be based in Grimsby or Boston, Lincolnshire.

The Customer

This role will be supporting this established commercial division responsible for the LHP (Lincolnshire Housing Partnership) Social Housing Refurbishment Projects.

Duties and Responsibilities

Senior Quantity Surveyor responsibilities will include:

  • Ensure the company secures its full entitlement within the contract.
  • Be responsible for the commercial aspects of this established Capital Works and Retrofit social housing refurbishment contract.
  • Promote company values and procedures internally and externally.
  • Ensure project teams meet or exceed budget targets.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on contractual arrangements.
  • Maximise cash flow through invoicing and resolving client queries.
  • Monitor job costs and revenue to support data-driven decisions.
  • Manage disputes and identify potential issues early.
  • Ensure accurate cash flow forecasts and revenue profiles.
  • Support financial reporting and cost control governance.
  • Oversee subcontractor orders, supplier on-boarding, and team development.
  • This is a small but exceptional and friendly team of dedicated and experienced commercial individuals.
What You Will Need
  • Good level of education to include 5 GCSE's at grade C or above, A levels
  • An industry related qualification
  • Experience of working on Social Housing Refurbishment contracts
  • Previous experience within a similar role
  • Excellent IT knowledge including a high level of Excel skills (incl. V-Lookup, Pivot tables and formula development)
  • Negotiating and communication skills
  • Detailed knowledge of relevant contract conditions
  • Experience of Management Accounts
  • Full UK driving licence and a willingness to travel if required by the business.
  • Knowledge of Contract Law
  • Professional Accountancy Qualifications or working towards Facilities Management/Accountancy or Construction related qualification.
  • Demonstrable experience in significant & complex contract multi-disciplinary contracts.
  • Experience in Dispute Resolution
  • Experience within the construction or social housing refurbishment sector however we are very much welcoming applications from established commercial individuals from other sectors.
