Job summary

Bespoke Civils Solutions Ltd is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to lead the commercial management of a major construction and infrastructure project. You will oversee cost control, valuations, contracts and subcontract administration, working closely with the Project Manager and wider team.

The role requires proven senior-level experience in construction/civil engineering, strong commercial acumen and the ability to manage multiple moving parts while delivering on programme objectives.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor in construction/civil engineering.
• Strong cost control, forecasting and financial reporting abilities.
• Excellent negotiation and communication with a proactive, analytical approach.

Responsibilities

• Full commercial management of projects from start-up through to completion.
• Support tendering and pre-contract activities.
• Manage subcontract procurement and evaluate returns.
• Prepare and manage subcontract packages and bills of quantities.
• Manage applications for payment, valuations and invoicing.
• Manage final accounts, variations, claims and disputes.
• Monitor project costs, resources and financial performance.

Senior Quantity Surveyor

We are recruiting for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join an established commercial team, working on a major construction and infrastructure project.

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially focused Senior Quantity Surveyor / Quantity Surveyor with strong experience in commercial management, contract administration, subcontract management, cost control and project financial reporting.

The Role

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the commercial management of a project or section of a project, ensuring commercial performance is effectively managed and contractual obligations are met.

You will work closely with the Project Manager, Commercial Manager, client and wider project team.

Key Responsibilities

• Full commercial management of projects from project start-up through to completion.
• Supporting tendering and pre-contract activities.
• Managing subcontract procurement, including preparing tender packages and evaluating returns.
• Preparing and managing subcontract packages and work package content sheets.
• Managing applications for payment, valuations and invoicing.
• Managing final accounts, variations, claims and disputes.
• Monitoring project costs, resources and financial performance.
• Producing accurate and timely CVR reports and forecasts.
• Identifying and managing commercial risks and opportunities.
• Managing change control and ensuring the financial impact of changes is recovered.
• Supporting value engineering and cost-saving initiatives.
• Providing commercial and contractual advice in relation to project programmes.
• Managing subcontract administration, including notices, instructions, payments and change control.
• Carrying out remeasurement and preparing quantified schedules of works and/or bills of quantities.
• Monitoring labour, plant, materials and other project costs.
• Working closely with the delivery and commercial teams to achieve project objectives.
• Supporting, developing and providing guidance to other members of the commercial team.
• Ensuring projects are effectively closed out, with all relevant commercial records maintained.

About You

The successful candidate will have:

• Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within the construction or civil engineering sector.
• Strong commercial and technical knowledge.
• Experience in contractual and commercial management.
• Strong understanding of subcontract procurement and administration.
• Experience managing valuations, applications for payment and final accounts.
• Experience with variations, claims, disputes and change control.
• Strong cost control, forecasting and financial reporting experience.
• Excellent negotiation, communication and relationship management skills.
• The ability to manage your own workload while supporting the wider commercial team.
• A proactive, commercially focused and analytical approach.
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
