Job summary

WGM Engineering Ltd, part of RSK Group, is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our Commercial team in Glasgow on a permanent, full-time basis. The role offers hybrid working and will support projects across the UK water portfolio.

You will provide commercial support on contracts, manage variations, ensure timely delivery to budget, and liaise with clients and external parties on payments and claims.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified or RICS-qualified.
• Highly competent in MS Excel and Word.
• Ability to interpret contract documents and drawings.
• Skilled in financial cost control and change management.
• Experience in Construction or Engineering.
• Knowledge of NEC4 Conditions of Contract.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.
• Experience supporting dispute avoidance and meeting deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Provide Commercial expertise within designated projects to maximise returns
• Produce accurate monthly cost and value forecasting of all projects and manage change control
• Implement effective commercial processes across the business
• Build and maintain effective working relationships with both internal and external parties
• Maintain and enhance profitability and minimise risk by applying best commercial practice
• Maintain positive cash flow at all times
• Promote Commercial awareness within the business

The Vacancy

WGM Engineering, part of RSK Group, is looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our Commercial team on a permanent, full-time basis. This role will be based in Glasgow and will benefit from Hybrid working. You will support project delivery across WGM’s growing UK water-sector portfolio. This is a business-critical opportunity to join a growing engineering business delivering essential infrastructure across the UK.

As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will provide commercial support across all business streams on financial and contractual matters arising through the management of various contracts and projects.

Offering support to the business streams, you will provide advice to allow projects to be delivered on time and to budget. You will liaise with clients and external parties on commercial issues such as contract agreement of variations, claims and payments.

Job Responsibilities

Minimum Requirements

• Degree qualified or professional qualification accredited by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) or equivalent experience
• Highly Competent in MS Excel and Word
• Ability to interpret and understand contract documents, scopes of works and contract drawings
• Skilled in financial cost control, value recovery and change management
• Experience within the Construction and/or Engineering industry
• Detailed working knowledge of NEC4 Conditions of Contract
• Strong communication and presentation skills
• Experience supporting dispute avoidance
• Ability to work to strict deadlines

Qualifications And Desirable Experience

The following would be helpful, but is not essential:

• Experience within the UK water sector, including work with Scottish Water, United Utilities, Southern Water or other regulated utility environments.

Salary And Benefits

We are offering a highly competitive salary package from £65,000 plus £5,000 Car Allowance per annum, depending on experience.
