Job summary

MTR Partnership is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor for South Yorkshire to own commercial aspects of new build care home projects and progress towards an expanded Commercial Manager role.

You will manage procurement, NEC/JCT related processes, and deliver forecasts, final accounts, and robust cost control across multiple schemes, with a clear path to senior management

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor with a main contractor.
• Strong new build background, ideally on projects valued £5m - £15m.
• Experience in care, residential, healthcare or similar sectors advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Take commercial responsibility for new build projects from procurement through to final account.
• Manage subcontractor procurement, negotiations and package appointments.
• Prepare CVRs, forecasts and regular commercial reports.
• Oversee valuations, variations, payments and final accounts.
• Work closely with operational teams to monitor costs and project performance.
• Identify commercial risks and opportunities throughout delivery.
• Maintain strong relationships with clients and subcontractors.
• Support junior surveyors and work closely with senior management.
• Progress towards commercially overseeing multiple projects as Commercial Manager.

Looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor role with a clear route into Commercial Manager?

We're recruiting for an established construction business looking to strengthen its commercial team with an experienced Senior QS who is ready to take the next step.

The business delivers new build care home projects, typically valued up to £12m, and is looking for someone who can take commercial ownership of schemes while developing towards a wider management role.

The Role;

• Take commercial responsibility for new build projects from procurement through to final account
• Manage subcontractor procurement, negotiations and package appointments
• Prepare CVRs, forecasts and regular commercial reports
• Oversee valuations, variations, payments and final accounts
• Work closely with operational teams to monitor costs and project performance
• Identify commercial risks and opportunities throughout delivery
• Maintain strong relationships with clients and subcontractors
• Support junior surveyors and work closely with senior management
• Progress towards commercially overseeing multiple projects as Commercial Manager

What We're Looking For;

• Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor with a main contractor
• Strong new build background, ideally on projects valued £5m - £15m
• Experience in care, residential, healthcare or similar sectors advantageous
• Confident managing projects commercially from start to finish
• Good knowledge of JCT contracts, procurement and subcontract management
• Strong forecasting, reporting and negotiation skills
• Experience mentoring junior surveyors would be beneficial
• Ambition to progress into a Commercial Manager position
