Company Overview

Our client, a leading civil engineering contractor, is looking for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team on a permanent basis. This role supports the new multi-million-pound ASTI project for SSE, located in Dounreay, from the Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) phase through to completion. This is an exciting chance to shape a high-impact power transmission project from the very start.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Manage financial aspects of substation projects, adhering to budgets while upholding quality.
  2. Lead contract management tasks, including negotiations, administration, and dispute resolution.
  3. Provide strategic commercial advice to enhance project profitability and mitigate risks.
  4. Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to achieve project objectives.
  5. Conduct cost analysis and forecasting for decision-making support.
  6. Mentor and support junior quantity surveyors in their career development.
  7. Liaise with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure contract compliance and timely deliveries.
  8. Prepare and submit financial reports (monthly, quarterly assessments, and payment applications).
  9. Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities to boost project efficiency.
  10. Maintain thorough documentation and financial records for all contracts and project finances.
Qualifications And Skills
  1. Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor in the construction or infrastructure sector.
  2. Strong contract management skills, ideally with NEC contracts or similar.
  3. Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build solid relationships.
  4. Financially savvy, with strong analytical and detail-oriented abilities.
  5. Degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field.
  6. RICS membership is advantageous but not essential.
