Job summary

Cumming Group in Manchester seeks a driven Quantity Surveyor to take ownership of cost management on high-profile developments. You will work directly with clients, shaping outcomes from feasibility through to completion in a hands-on, collaborative team.

The role offers progression and exposure to a diverse project portfolio within a growing practice. A degree in QS/Construction and MRICS (or working toward) is preferred.

Qualifications

• Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction, Engineering, or similar.
• MRICS (or working towards) preferred.
• 2–5 years' experience in cost management or consultancy.
• Good knowledge of JCT contracts (NEC contracts a benefit).
• Exposure to pre- and post-contract stages.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver cost plans, budgets, and reporting.
• Manage valuations, forecasts, and financial performance.
• Assist with contract administration (JCT / NEC).
• Support risk and value management processes.
• Act as a client contact, building strong working relationships.
• Provide clear, confident commercial advice.
• Work closely with project teams to help drive successful outcomes.
• Support procurement, tendering, and contractor selection.
• Contribute to business development and bids.
• Help identify opportunities to improve delivery and performance.
• Collaborate with and support junior team members.

This is a hands-on, client-facing role where you'll support and take ownership of projects from early feasibility through to completion, with the guidance of senior team members.

Your Experience

• Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction, Engineering, or similar
• MRICS (or working towards) preferred
