Senior Quantity Surveyor (MEP/CSA) – Blyth, UK

PE Global Recruitment is partnering with a leading European data centre delivery specialist on a major project in Blyth. The organisation delivers large-scale mission-critical developments across Europe and is continuing to expand its commercial team.
We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor with MEP/CSA experience to join the project team.
This is a key commercial position, supporting the financial and contractual delivery of a major data centre development. The successful candidate will take ownership of commercial activities across their area of responsibility, working closely with project, engineering, procurement and site teams to maintain cost control and support the successful delivery of the project.
The position offers the opportunity to work on a significant data centre programme, with further project phases and long-term opportunities available.
Key Responsibilities
- Take responsibility for the commercial management of designated project areas from procurement through to completion.
- Develop and maintain project cost plans, forecasts and financial reporting.
- Lead commercial input into the procurement of subcontractor and specialist packages.
- Manage tender processes, including reviewing commercial submissions and supporting subcontract negotiations.
- Oversee subcontractor accounts, including valuations, payments, changes and final account settlement.
- Monitor expenditure against budgets and forecasts, identifying potential commercial risks and opportunities.
- Work closely with Project Managers, Package Managers, engineers and site teams to provide commercial guidance throughout the project.
- Review and manage contractual documentation, ensuring relevant records and notices are maintained.
- Assess changes to scope and support the commercial management of variations and additional works.
- Prepare and review applications for payment, valuations and other commercial submissions.
- Attend project, commercial and site meetings, providing updates on financial and contractual matters.
- Provide commercial advice to the wider project team and support informed decision-making.
- Assist with the preparation of financial information and reports for senior management.
- Identify potential contractual or commercial issues and work proactively with the project team to resolve them.
- Ensure commercial activities are carried out in accordance with contractual requirements and internal procedures.
- Contribute to the overall commercial strategy and successful financial delivery of the project.
Skills & Qualifications
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or a related discipline.
- 8+ years' Quantity Surveying experience, ideally gained within a main contractor or construction environment.
- Strong commercial experience across large-scale construction projects.
- Proven experience across cost management, procurement, subcontract administration and commercial reporting.
- Strong understanding of construction contracts and commercial procedures.
- Excellent negotiation, analytical and financial management skills.
- Experience managing subcontractor accounts and complex commercial packages.
- Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Confident communicator who can work effectively with multidisciplinary project teams.
- Ability to identify commercial risks, assess opportunities and provide practical solutions.
- Previous MEP/CSA, data centre, industrial or other mission-critical project experience would be highly advantageous.
