Job summary

Carmichael UK is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to work on an iconic major infrastructure water project in Oxfordshire. You will oversee commercial activities and foster client relationships on water frameworks.

The role requires a degree in Quantity Surveying, professional membership or progression, and experience on UK civil infrastructure with a Tier one contractor; you will mentor others and coordinate with project managers and designers.

Qualifications

  • Quantity Surveying degree or similar.
  • Enrolled or seeking membership of a professional institution (CICES, RICS or similar).
  • Experience on major civil engineering infrastructure project in the UK for a Tier one/Principal Contractor.
  • Demonstrable ability to mentor and coach direct reports.
  • Ability to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with the project team including the Client, Project Managers and Designers.
  • Competent in subcontractor management and NEC, JCT, FIDIC (advantageous).
  • Senior level with proven track record delivering a positive commercial outcome for projects.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all commercial aspects of the project, including cost control, forecasting, budgeting and monthly CVR reporting.
  • Administer contracts, managing Early Warning Notices, Compensation Events and contractual compliance.
  • Procure and commercially manage subcontractors from tender stage through to payment, variations and final accounts.
  • Prepare and submit client applications for payment while negotiating variations, compensation events and commercial settlements.
  • Monitor and recover project change, maintaining change registers and ensuring all additional costs are captured and agreed.
  • Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities, ensuring notices are issued and mitigation measures are implemented.
  • Support the commercial team, attend client and project meetings, provide commercial advice to project management and support the successful delivery of the works.

An enduring opportunity exists for a Senior Quantity Surveyor on an iconic major infrastructure water project in Oxfordshire.

Previous experience cultivating client relationships on water frameworks or long term water infrastructure projects, for a tier one contractor, would be advantageous.

Your duties will include –
