Job description

Mace combines construction expertise with consultancy to unlock potential in every person or project and redefine the boundaries of ambition. Our values shape the way we consult and define the people we want to join us on our journey.

The project: Hinkley Point C is helping to secure the UK's low‑carbon energy future, delivering reliable, affordable electricity to millions of homes for generations to come. As part of this nationally significant programme, you'll join a world‑class team driving innovation, collaboration and excellence across every stage of delivery. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a project of unprecedented scale and complexity, while developing your career in an environment where your expertise, leadership and ambition can make a lasting impact.

Primary purpose of the QML role: The primary purpose of the QML role is to ensure supply‑chain adherence to the contracted quality assurance and quality control requirements. QMLs sit within the quality management team and are deployed to Programmes to serve this primary purpose. With the exception of MEH Programme off‑site manufacturing scopes, day to day reporting is to the Quality Delivery Manager (QDM) who sets out their Programme quality requirements. In turn, administrative reporting for the QMLs is to the Quality Management Manager, who ensures that QMLs perform adequately and implement the right processes to deliver to programme quality requirements. This includes development and implementation of project quality control plans (PQCP’s). To keep these duties to a manageable level, the Quality Management Manager will be supported by a number of Team Leaders. For off‑site MEH Programme manufacturing scopes, the QML’s report directly to the EPM Quality Manager.

You’ll Be Responsible For

  • Identifying needs for supply chain audits and engaging Supply Chain Auditors to perform audits and prompt resolution of findings.
  • Producing project quality control plans (PQCP) for each contract.
  • Ensuring, in compliance with the PQCP, deployment of key quality contractual arrangements including the general quality assurance specification (GQAS), lifetime quality records specification, quality release certificate and the inspection and test plan specification etc.
  • Providing relevant guidance to contractors, including contractor’s CQAPs, LTQR partitioning strategies and the arrangements for identifying and planning for Quality Related Activities.
  • Managing the implementation of LTQR reviews.
  • Supporting the determination and application of strategies for progressive provision of LTQRs by contractors.
  • Developing and maintaining effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders including contracted inspection entities (for offsite manufacturing in particular, Direction Industrielle is a key stakeholder).
  • Ensuring manufacturing surveillance per contract is applied in a graded approach of equipment safety function and project importance through surveillance offers and performance monitoring of the inspection agencies used (e.g. Direction Industrielle).
  • Ensuring overall effectiveness of ITPs submitted by the suppliers, checking that they are fit for purpose from a quality perspective and have been correctly distributed to the relevant internal parties for review and mark–up of the activities they wish to witness.
  • Establishing and checking, where applicable, planned inspection witness and hold points marked in the supplier Inspection and Test Plans (ITP)/Quality Plans/Follow Up Documents (FUDs) and monitoring their completion.
  • Coordinating, monitoring and improving the efficiency of manufacturing documentation review and, where applicable, inspection activities performed by contracted inspection entities.
  • Coordinating and leading the NNB review and acceptance of relevant manufacturing documentation provided by contractors.
  • Performing joint inspections when required.
  • Supporting the monitoring and technical resolution of non-conformances including the management of corrections and corrective actions.
  • Supporting the review and acceptance of end of manufacturing reports (EoMR), end of construction status reports (ECSR) and end of erection status reports (EESR).
