Job summary

Mace is seeking a qualified project professional to join the Hinkley Point C programme in Bridgwater. You will support resource management, schedule integrity, and risk mitigation across multi-discipline EPCM activities.

The role requires strong leadership, safety awareness and experience with large-scale nuclear-related projects, with opportunities to influence outcomes and advance your career within a world-class delivery team.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated leadership in complex projects and programmes.
  • Working knowledge of CDM Regulations and safety requirements.
  • Proficient numeracy, analytical and critical reasoning skills.
  • Proficient in estimating, scheduling, programming and risk.
  • Excellent presentation, influencing and facilitation skills.
  • Understanding nuclear quality needs and assurance processes.
  • Experience with NEC and FIDIC commercial arrangements.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting in securing resources to meet project requirements and maintaining SQEP.
  • Developing and implementing strategies aligned with the programme execution plan.
  • Maintaining effective communications with stakeholders and implementing strategies.
  • Assisting delivery of contract activities to meet safety, time and budget targets.
  • Monitoring progress against milestones, deadlines and budget; reporting to stakeholders.
  • Identifying risks, resolving issues, updating the programme budget and escalation.
  • Working with construction to ensure schedules align with overall project schedules.

You’ll Be Responsible For

  • Assisting in securing the required resources to meet their project requirements, ensuring the maintenance of SQEP for any assigned resource and promptly identifying any personnel shortfalls or issues within their project team.
  • Assisting the development and implementation of strategies and plans in line with the overall programme execution plan (PEP), setting out how the programme of work will be managed, organised, and executed.
  • Maintaining effective communications with all stakeholders and executing the project or PEP strategies within their contract or package of work.
  • Assisting with delivery of the contract or package activities to ensure they are delivered safely on time, to budget, meeting business and technical requirements.
  • Monitoring and managing the progress of the programme - track progress against milestones, deadlines, budget and provide key stakeholders with reports on these matters.
  • Anticipating, managing, and resolving issues within the contact or package. Identify risks and facilitate the resolution of all issues raised, develop, and update the programme budget, and escalate any issues as required.
  • Working with the construction team to ensure schedules are developed and maintained for the contract or package of work. Ensure such schedules are consistent with overall Project schedules and escalate any discrepancies.
  • Ensuring that lessons-learnt and knowledge-capture are practiced as business as usual.
  • Interfacing with other programmes to ensure a high-level view of how the total project is progressing and to identify and adopt the use of best practice.
  • Ensuring that contract or package contractual requirements are fulfilled and escalate where necessary.

You’ll Need To Have

  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of leadership and its application in complex projects.
  • Working knowledge of CDM Regulations.
  • Proficient numeracy, analytical and critical reasoning skills.
  • Proficient application of estimating, scheduling, programming, risk.
  • Excellent presentation, influencing and facilitation skills.
  • Understanding the needs of nuclear quality and how nuclear quality is assured and controlled.
  • A degree or similar qualification in a related subject, construction or related field is desirable but not essential.
  • Professional qualification in Project Management such as APM PPQ or other recognised qualification is desirable but not essential.
  • Demonstrated project management experience in:
  • Engineering design, contract, and field execution strategies for project delivery.
  • Multi-discipline EPCM projects.
  • Working knowledge and management experience of construction activities.
  • Procurement and management of complex contracts.
  • Control of costs, risk, schedule, and change.
  • Management of commercial claims and associated negotiation experience.
  • Successful experience in engaging multi-level stakeholders including contractors, consultants, and advisors in a regulated environment.
  • Experience operating within NEC and FIDIC commercial arrangements.
