Job summary

Empower Advisory UK, based in Plymouth, seeks a Senior Project Quality Engineer/Manager to support the Devonport project. You will lead quality activities, ensuring procedures, specifications and PEPs are followed on a heavy civil site for the Navy dockyard.

The role requires prior quality or civil construction experience, ISO 9001 knowledge, excellent communication, and the ability to work in regulated environments. British citizenship is required for this security‑critical project.

Responsibilities

• As Senior Project Quality Engineer, you will manage junior members of the Project Quality Team.
• Interface with delivery engineers, framework quality team and customer quality representatives.
• Implement and ensure adherence to project procedures, scope, specification, PEP and British/International Standards.
• Deliver quality briefings and training across the wider project team.
• Liaise with suppliers, subcontractors, procurement team & Stores Controller.
• Assist with writing Inspection Test Plans (ITP) and ensure they are followed with up-to-date evidence.
• Manage the compilation and review of quality documentation including Lifetime Quality Records and Product Approval Records.
• Manage Non-Conformance and product quarantine processes.
• Assist with stores control, stock management and product traceability, including product movements and Conformity checks.
• Send contractual communications to the customer via CEMAR.
• Maintain records and document control standards across the project.
• Co-operate with staff and customer representatives to resolve quality issues promptly.
• Assist the project team with ad-hoc duties as required.

Senior Project Quality Engineer / Project Quality Manager

We are seeking a Full Time project based Senior Quality Engineer to join us at Devonport, Plymouth where we are the preferred contractor to carry out heavy civil engineering construction in and around the Navy dockyard. The key applicant will be working alongside the project and delivery teams to deliver the project Quality Assurance.

Due to the nature of work at Devonport, there will be a high level of security checking in place which means for this project we can only consider candidates that are British citizens.

Responsibilities

As a Senior Project Quality Engineer, you will be responsible for the following:

• Manage junior members of the Project Quality Team
• Interface with the delivery engineers, framework quality team and customer quality representatives
• Implement and ensure adherence to project procedures, scope, specification, Project Execution Plan (PEP) and British/ International Standards
• Deliver quality related briefings and training across the wider project team
• Liaise with suppliers, subcontractors, procurement team & Stores Controller
• Assist with writing Inspection Test Plans (ITP) and ensure they are being followed and supporting evidence is up to date
• Manage the compilation and review of quality documentation, including Lifetime Quality Records, Product Approval Records and project procedures
• Manage the Non-Conformance and product quarantine process
• Assist with stores control, stock management and product traceability, including product movements, physical product checks, delivery ticket and Certificate of Conformity checks, and approving products for use onsite
• Send contractual communication to the customer via CEMAR
• Ensure accurate records and trackers are maintained across the project, and ensure document control standards are maintained
• Co-operate with staff and customer representatives to ensure that problems of quality are solved promptly and efficiently
• Assisting the project team with ad-hoc duties where required

Who are we looking for?

Essential:

• Prior experience in the Quality field OR in Civil Construction Engineering
• Familiarity with ISO 9001 / Quality Management Systems
• High level of IT skills including Microsoft 365, Word, Excel, Powerpoint & digital filing
• High level of written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work in highly regulated environments
• Excellent attention to detail
• Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications
• Ability to work to ISO / British Standards and extract relevant information
• High level of organisation skills

Desirable:

• Previous experience working in MOD or nuclear industries
• Awareness of construction methodologies
• Experience with PDF editing
