The role
As a Senior Quality Engineer, you’ll focus on project quality and work on quality management plans and test plans linked to multiple contracts, ensuring business compliance. The key focus of this role is to support the delivery of one of our most important contracts on time, to the right quality and to the planned cost.

Day-to-day, you will provide advice, guidance, and support to the business on all matters related to quality, ensuring outputs meet customer and regulatory requirements in a timely manner.

• Represent the customer’s interests and maintain an open and collaborative relationship with the customer quality representative.
• Provide quality input and advice throughout the product lifecycle.
• Identify quality risks and work to mitigate, manage, and escalate to programme leadership.
• Oversee progress and sign-off on completion of the delivery process to assure the customer that their requirements have been met.
• Drive a Right-First-Time culture through quality planning in production and supply chain.
• Lead investigations into quality escapes, managing through to preventative action using suitable tools and techniques.

This role is full time, 37 hours per week, and provides hybrid working arrangements with 2/3 days in the office/onsite and 2/3 days working from home depending on business needs.

Experience of the Senior Quality Engineer

• Quality assurance background with considerable practical, hands-on experience, familiar with how quality applies throughout a product or service delivery lifecycle.
• Previous customer-facing roles or experience is beneficial.
• Experience of implementing quality improvements and encouraging culture change within an organisation.
• Experience of auditing quality AS9100 management systems – Desirable.
• An excellent working knowledge of quality tools and problem-solving techniques.
• Knowledge and experience of continuous improvement tools.

Qualifications for the Senior Quality Engineer

• Membership of a recognised quality institute – Desirable (Babcock can support you through this if not already obtained).
• ISO9001-2015 internal auditor – Desirable (Babcock can support you through this if not already obtained).
• Experience working in quality within a manufacturing environment – Desirable.
• Aerospace, defence or highly regulated industry experience – Desirable.

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
