Job description

CarmichaelUK are recruiting for a Senior Quality Engineer to support a leading contractor on a major utilities package for HS2 in the Buckinghamshire area. This is a great opportunity for a detail-oriented professional to take the lead on quality across a complex, high-profile section of the UK's flagship infrastructure project.
Role Overview:
You ll play a key role in ensuring that works across utilities including water, power, gas, and telecoms diversions are delivered to the highest quality standards, with robust documentation and full compliance across all stages.
Key Responsibilities:

• Lead quality assurance across the utilities package in line with project specifications and client standards
  
• Ensure ITPs, check sheets, and as-builts are maintained, accurate, and signed off correctly
  
• Drive quality audits, inspections, and surveillance plans
  
• Interface with engineering, delivery, and compliance teams to manage NCRs
  
• Support handover preparation and documentation, ensuring traceability throughout the lifecycle of the works
  
• Provide coaching and oversight to site-based teams on quality best practices
  
• Liaise with client representatives and report on quality metrics and status
  

About You:

• Proven experience in a quality-focused role on major civils or utilities projects
• Strong knowledge of QA/QC processes, ITPs, and handover requirements
• Familiarity with HS2 standards
• Understanding of construction methods in deep drainage, pipeline installation, and utility diversions
• Excellent communication and documentation skills
• CSCS card required Quality qualifications desirable (e.g., ISO 9001 Lead Auditor)
