Job summary

Spectrum IT Recruitment is seeking a Senior Automation Engineer for a large-scale public sector onboarding project in the Southampton area. The role is hybrid, with 2 days on site weekly, and requires eligibility for security clearance.

Expect a salary between £60,000 and £70,000 plus bonus and benefits. You will drive test strategy, lead automation efforts using Playwright and Java, and collaborate with developers to deliver secure, high-quality software across UI and API layers in an Agile

Qualifications

• Experience in automation testing across UI and API layers.
• Hands-on UI and API automation testing experience.
• Strong test design, automation and QA best practices knowledge.
• Experience with Playwright and Java/JavaScript or OO language.
• Experience writing SQL queries.
• Experience with AWS and SaaS products.
• Solid understanding of Agile development practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead QA activities within the development team and champion quality.
• Design and execute test strategies for new products and features.
• Review solution designs to identify quality risks and recommend improvements.
• Develop and maintain end-to-end automated tests using Playwright.
• Perform manual and automated testing across UI and API layers.
• Monitor test and production environments and support defect resolution.
• Continuously improve test coverage, QA processes, and automation frameworks.
• Collaborate with developers and stakeholders to deliver high-quality releases.
