Anemoi Marine Technologies is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Python) to lead hands-on development of our early-stage scientific software for a defined contract period in London. You will work with engineers and analysts to translate methods into reliable software and contribute to other Python, data, and scientific projects where your expertise adds value.

This role combines delivery with technical leadership, requiring pragmatic architectural decisions and established development

Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional software delivery leadership.
• Advanced Python skills and solid software architecture.
• Experience packaging and releasing Python libraries or applications.
• Experience with automated testing, CI, documentation, and Git version control.
• Experience with SQL and data querying for validation and analysis.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, testing, and delivery of scientific and engineering software.
• Turn technical methods and business needs into clear requirements and dependable software.
• Make pragmatic architectural decisions balancing current delivery with long-term maintainability.
• Establish and embed standards for development, testing, documentation, version control, CI, and releases.
• Ensure calculations and results are reproducible, traceable, and verified.
• Document the software, share knowledge, and provide a structured handover to its long-term owner.
• Contribute to other scientific and engineering software projects as required.
