Job summary

Setec Alpha in London is seeking a Senior Python Engineer for our Commodities desk. You will build advanced research infrastructure, real-time event-driven platforms for signal generation, trading decisions and execution, and own the reliability of the technology stack across research and production.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in computer science or engineering, energy trading experience, strong Python and distributed systems skills (Docker, Kubernetes, Ceph, MongoDB, Kafka), and experience

Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant industry experience in computer science or engineering.
• Energy Trading or Commodities trading experience preferred.
• Experience designing and building distributed computing systems.
• Large-scale time-series data ingestion, storage, and processing platforms.

Responsibilities

• Build advanced research infrastructure and tooling to support alpha generation and strategy development.
• Engineer real-time, event-driven platforms for signal generation, trading decisions, and execution.
• Architect, develop, and maintain critical systems for real-time data ingestion and distributed computation across research and production environments.
• Own the reliability and day-to-day operation of the technology stack, ensuring resilience and rapid issue resolution.
