Job summary

Luxoft in London is seeking a Senior Python Developer to join a high-performing engineering team building a brand-new data and application platform for a leading investment banking client.

This hands-on technical leadership role involves defining architecture, mentoring developers, and delivering scalable, enterprise-grade solutions using Python, Databricks, Azure DevOps, and cloud-native tooling.

Qualifications

• Extensive Sybase ASE/IQ experience with database development and stored procedures.
• Advanced SQL skills, including query optimisation and performance tuning.
• Proven ETL design, development and maintenance experience.
• Strong Unix/Linux knowledge and shell scripting ability.
• Experience in Agile delivery environments (Scrum, Kanban, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable Python backend services and APIs.
• Build data pipelines and processing workloads on Databricks.
• Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps.
• Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance for the new platform.
• Mentor engineers via code reviews, pair programming, and coaching best practices.
• Design and consume RESTful APIs with cross-functional teams.
• Translate business requirements into robust, scalable technical solutions.
• Champion clean code and engineering standards; drive continuous improvement.
• Develop and maintain automated unit and integration tests.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies: planning, refinement, reviews, retrospectives.
• Collaborate with Product, Architecture, QA, and business stakeholders.
• Support and enhance existing applications in a fast-paced banking environment.

What You'll Be Doing

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs using Python
• Build and optimise data pipelines and processing workloads on Databricks
• Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines and release processes within Azure DevOps
• Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance during the development of a new strategic platform
• Mentor engineers through code reviews, pair programming, and best-practice coaching
• Design and consume RESTful APIs while collaborating with cross-functional teams
• Translate business requirements into robust, scalable technical solutions
• Champion clean code principles, engineering standards, and continuous improvement initiatives
• Develop and maintain automated unit and integration tests
• Participate in Agile ceremonies including planning, refinement, reviews, and retrospectives
• Collaborate closely with Product, Architecture, QA, and business stakeholders

What We're Looking For
