Job summary

Client Server is seeking a hands-on data platform engineer in Central London to design and build data platform components using Python and to develop ETL pipelines across data lakes and distributed systems.

The role focuses on reliability, observability, and modern CI/CD practices, with ownership across the full stack from data ingestion to delivery. A STEM degree with MSc-level study is preferred, and the company offers strong pension and career development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Strong backend development experience with Python.
• Experience with financial or market data.
• Experience designing and operating data-intensive and distributed systems.
• Strong knowledge of databases, including relational, NoSQL, and columnar databases.
• Keen to take ownership across the full development lifecycle.
• Collaborative with strong stakeholder management skills.
• A 2.1 or above in a STEM discipline, MSc-level study.

Responsibilities

• Design and build data platform components using Python.
• Develop and optimise ETL pipelines, data lakes/lakehouses, and distributed systems.
• Improve infrastructure, observability, and CI/CD practices.
• Maintain and evolve existing systems, including microservices, ETL, and Excel add-ins.
• Support platform operations, ensuring reliability and performance.
