Job summary

Lancesoft in Cambridge is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to support and scale backend services for prototype wearables in a data collection lab. You will build and integrate systems that ingest multi-modal sensor streams (audio, video, IMU) to keep data collection fast, accurate, and reliable.

The role requires extensive Python experience, strong Linux automation, and solid knowledge of distributed systems and RESTful APIs.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional backend software engineering and data processing experience.
• Strong Linux systems knowledge and shell scripting (Bash).
• Solid understanding of IP networking and building RESTful distributed systems.
• Practical experience with modern frameworks for APIs (FastAPI/Flask/Django).

Responsibilities

• Develop backend services to integrate prototype wearable devices into data collection pipelines.
• Deploy, monitor, and optimize distributed systems ingesting real-time sensor modalities.
• Build automated tooling for data validation, system health, and pipeline diagnostics.
• Provide onsite troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and network debugging in a live lab environment.
• Collaborate with audio/video engineers, technicians, and international research teams.
