Job summary

US Tech Solutions is seeking a Senior Python Engineer (AR/VR) to maintain data collection platforms in a Cambridge, UK research lab. The role focuses on Python backend development, data processing automation, and integrating prototype wearables and third-party sensors.

You will collaborate with software, audio/video engineers, and research teams to ensure reliable data collection and high-quality datasets for machine learning research.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong proficiency in Python backend development.
• Hands-on experience with Linux systems and shell scripting.
• Experience building distributed, RESTful, and concurrent systems.
• Strong understanding of networking fundamentals (IPv4/IPv6, VLANs).
• Experience with FastAPI or similar Python backend frameworks.
• Knowledge of time synchronization across systems and devices.
• Troubleshooting and debugging in complex software environments.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Python-based backend applications, services, and data pipelines.
• Integrate prototype wearables and sensors into existing platforms.
• Automate data validation, processing, and post-processing workflows.
• Maintain and troubleshoot distributed systems, REST APIs, and data collection infrastructure.
• Support multimodal data collection involving audio, video, and sensors.
• Monitor system health and perform root cause analysis during live sessions.
• Manage Linux environments, shell scripting, and system automation.
• Deploy, test, and evaluate software upgrades for reliability.
