Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Psychologist to join our integrated Mental Healthcare team at HMP Gartree, a Category B prison based in Leicestershire. The site supports males aged 21+ with a high proportion of patients over 40. Within this role you will have a fantastic opportunity to develop the psychology services on site working alongside the experienced integrated mental health team, including an established psychotherapist. This role would suit an experienced psychologist familiar with adult mental health presentations, neurodiversity, and historic trauma. Suitable applicants must be familiar with trauma‑informed approaches and enjoy working as part of a team.

Support and Development
  • Bespoke induction, including our Introducing Health in Justice training course

  • Post‑doctoral training – supervision
  • EMDR training after successful completion of a 6‑month probation period
Responsibilities
  • Offer clinical support and oversight to the Integrated Mental Health Team (IMHT) in the form of training, supervision and reflective practice
  • Undertake psychological assessments and support complex multidisciplinary formulations
  • Deliver and oversee the delivery of 1:1 psychological interventions and group intervention as part of the trauma‑informed “Making Sense” programme
  • Deliver teaching and training to healthcare and prison staff where required
  • Contribute to the development of audit, service evaluation and research profile as appropriate

Qualifications
  • Qualified clinical, counselling or forensic psychologist
  • Registered with the HCPC
  • Postgraduate qualification/training in at least one specific mode of psychological therapy relevant to people with severe and long‑standing mental health difficulties
  • Experience of providing evidence‑based psychological interventions
  • Experience of working in multidisciplinary teams and working with trauma‑informed practice
