Senior Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner
This position within the Brighton and Hove Wellbeing Service offers career progression opportunities in the Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP) role.
The role is part of our Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (NHS TT) stepped care service, delivering Step 2 interventions following NICE Guidance.
The post holder will provide evidence-based Guided Self-help, computerised CBT, and psychoeducational groups.
Responsibilities include supporting the PWP Team Leads with service development, implementation, and performance monitoring, potentially including line management. The post also involves clinical supervision and case management of trainee and qualified PWPs.
This role is based in the Brighton and Hove Wellbeing Talking Therapy Service, part of the Primary Care and Wellbeing CDS / Brighton Division, Sussex Partnership Foundation Trust.
Main duties of the job
- Provide case management and clinical supervision to PWPs and Trainee PWPs.
- Maintain high professional standards, attend supervision sessions.
- Assist in managing waiting lists and systems for assessments and interventions.
- Ensure accurate clinical records and outcome measures are maintained.
- Support patient satisfaction questionnaires and service reviews.
- Implement the stepped care model for psychological interventions in line with NICE guidelines.
- Contribute to service development and best practice within the Step 2 Team.
- Deliver high-volume, low-intensity short-term treatments as per NHS TT model.
- Conduct initial assessments, evaluate client risk/complexity, and make referrals as needed.
- Ensure own and others' clinical practice adheres to professional standards.

Job responsibilities
- Clinical Responsibilities/Patient contact
- Provide low-intensity assessments and evidence-based CBT interventions, including individual and group work using online platforms.
- Offer accessible services to adults over 17.5 years with common mental health issues.
- Ensure services are equitable and non-discriminatory.
- Support primary care workers with referrals and mental health aspects of their roles.
- Make referrals to external services and support community resources.
- Develop knowledge of local mental health services.
- Offer flexible clinic hours, including outside normal hours where possible.
- Liaise with secondary care, social services, and community organizations.

Person Specification
Qualifications
- Post Graduate/Graduate Certificate in Psychological Wellbeing Practice (Low intensity)
Knowledge/Experience
- Post-qualifying experience in primary care mental health settings.
- Experience delivering evidence-based low intensity interventions.
- Experience in screening, assessment, and working with mental health issues.
- Risk assessment and management experience.
- Experience of multidisciplinary teamwork.
- Completed supervision training for PWPs.
- Understanding of assessment, screening, referral, and brief psychological interventions.
- Knowledge of anxiety and depression presentations in primary care.
- Understanding of the IAPT delivery model and its challenges.
- Experience in supervision or mentoring PWPs.
Disclosure and Barring Service Check
This role requires a DBS check due to safeguarding requirements.
Salary: £37,338 to £44,962 per annum / pro rata for part-time.
